The new company to be known as National Blanking is a joint venture between National Material Company and Heidtman Steel Products which have enjoyed the synergy of working together for decades to provide quality products to their respective customers, and now are partnering to offer our customers first operational blanks, that includes utilizing our expertise in high strength low alloy steels, and Advanced High Strength Steel.

National Material Company L.P. was founded in 1964 and specializes in supplying, servicing and processing steel with unmatched efficiency and capacity due to the company’s substantial list of capabilities. Uncompromising in its safety standards, NMLP leads the way through efficiency, innovation, and performance. Currently operating 16 steel service centers and processing facilities in the United States, Canada and Mexico and shipping over 2,000,000 tons of steel annually, making its move into first operational blanking a natural progression.

National Blanking offers a broad range of blanking and steel services covering a wide scope of industries. Our facilities support press sizes up to 1200 tons with bed sizes up to 84” x 120”, coils up to 55,500 lbs. and 72” wide, with a gauge range of .020 – .500. Other capabilities include circle blanking utilizing multi-cavity tooling with an expansive selection of diameter components that allows the retro-fitting of existing tooling to provide low cost solutions for our customers. Our on-site die shop supports flexible value-added services including blank-through, compound, and progressive blanking.

To meet growing demand, National Material Mexico recently installed a 48” Reusch slitting line in order to process grain-oriented silicon and other grades of electrical steel.The slitter will come with a full packaging line to exclusively service our Monterrey customers.

“We’ve only been working with NMC for a little over a year. That’s why this is so unique.” explained Trevor Medley, Assistant Manager of Purchasing at Hi-Lex Controls, Inc. “We have 118 individual suppliers and NMC was selected for cost reductions.”

On October 22, 2013, NMC’s Craig Nollar and Kevin Anderson attended the 2013 Hi-Lex Supplier Conference. The recognition came as a surprise, although they knew that Jerry Fix and NMC’s great team of associates had a flawless performance on the GMT900 program over the course of the year. NMC “took the bull by the horns” when it came to potential capacity challenges, making sure Hi-Lex experienced absolutely zero quality issues or delivery complications. This is memorable circumstance where the people that do the heavy work are being honored and recognized. For approximately a year and a half, NMC has been handling the slitting, packaging and shipping of 100 to 120k per week of the GMT900 products.

Hi-Lex determines their outstanding suppliers based on 3 criteria: cost reduction, delivery performance, and quality performance. “NMC wouldn’t have been considered if they hadn’t performed above and beyond, exceeded our expectations in all 3 categories, “ added Medley.
